We journeyed down to Lord Wandsworth College yesterday to support their Hockey Festival organized by Soma Singh. The weather really was against us as anyone braving the outdoors would surely agree!
Dave Lewis lead the action packed warm-up where it was excellent to see the majority of GKs using Monarch Hockey Equipment. Alex Danson lead the outfield players warm-up (England & Great Britain).
It was a shame to see the exhibition match was called off and the event cut short but we managed to give people some great advice about goalkeeping kit, equipment and sticks. The most important thing was that all the children had fun over the course of the day.

Monarch will be launching their new pads in the summer, the existing ranges will be no more! However all the new styles will include much the same in the way of shape but have the long overdue facelifts. Aesthetics will be the first notable change, with of course the new Monarch logo and style name. With functional changes such as even better protection for toes and finger and the marriage between kicker and legguard will be the best its ever been.

With many years experience of coaching and playing, fleethockey offers different levels of training for all skills and abilities while encouraging every player to achieve their potential. Coaching ranges from core skills workshops to elite athlete summer camps.
Fleethockey has strong links with Cannock Hockey Club and Chase Park, where the coaching camps will be held.
The young athletes will have their residential base at Chase Academy school where bed and breakfast accommodation will be provided in rooms of one, two or three.
fleethockey aims to improve young athletes on and off the hockey pitch by encouraging playing hard but also listening hard.

Congratulations to Bowdon Hightown, winners of the silver medal at the EuroHockey Indoor Club Champions Trophy in Prague on Sunday.
England’s representatives finished as runners-up to Slavia Prague, who topped the promotion pool. Bowdon Hightown required a victory from their final game against Prague to top the table but they narrowly lost 5-4 to the Czechs, whose inspired comeback was instigated by Adela Bizova. Doubles from Great Britain international Sally Walton and Michelle Liptrot proved not quite enough as Bizova’s hat-trick won it for the hosts.
On Saturday, Bowdon Hightown had beaten Rotwiess Wettingen 4-2 and drawn 4-4 with Denmark’s Slagelse. They had gotten off to the best possible start on Friday with a 7-1 win over Armagh before going down 5-4 to Lorenzoni.

In the continuing efforts to improve Monarch’s foam from what is already a very comprehensive product we have started by looking at the kicker and what areas need addressing.
Firstly in our high spec kickers for 2012/13 we will have 5 layers of foam, this jumps from the original 3 or 4 layers. How are we doing this? The original 2 moulded pieces remain, we then place the white high density foam in next, then the all in one toe piece and the instep arch section is added.
The benefits: Higher rebound because of the increased foam thickness, better fitting due to comfort foam, foot arch comfort.
The kicker tongue has also been changed to make a better fit and connection with the legguard, it will also be made from a comfort foam so there is no rubbing on the side of the ankle.
Kicker side wall height has been addressed, so the instep has a higher saving area and the outer foot is reduced, this saves weight and helps again with the fit with the leg-guard.
Overall aesthetics of the kicker have also improved, with strap location and wall height, along with the new look logo and embossing will strengthen the image of the Monarch Kicker.
